The cottage, which was completely renovated in 2006, lies on the Southern side of Tranås by a small lake called Sjön Säby, within 10 minutes drive of the centre of Tranås. Tranås is located almost halfway between Gothenburg and Stockholm on the border of the provinces of Östergötland and Småland in an area called Sommenbygd and easily reached by air, road and ferry from other parts of Europe.. The area is named after Lake Sommen, which lies at its very heart. It’s said that Lake Sommen has as many islands as there are days in a year.

A traditional Swedish summer cottage, it is detached and stands in a large fenced garden. The cottage is on one floor and includes a living room with sofa bed, a bedroom with a bunk bed and a small kitchen. .The interior is in Scandinavian style, light and airy, with varnished wood floors and a spacious open plan living area. To the front of the cottage is a large veranda with stairs leading down to the garden and lake.  The property has another building which includes a double bedroom and a bedroom with a small double bed. This building also houses the bathroom which has a shower and a self composting toilet. The roads nearby are quiet and the cottage sits right next to the lake.

The surrounding Area

Visit the widest main street in Sweden, Storgatan at 38 meters wide. Storgatan is the vital nerve of Tranås. Here you can find many nice shops, wide sidewalks and in the summertime there are many cafés and restaurants along the street. You can also visit the craftsmen, many of them have their own production and shops. In the town centre there are several museums. Every Saturday in May-September, at 11.00 am, there is a parade-march along Storgatan.

Brahälla Slottsruin - Brahälla Castleruin. Brahälla lies beautifully between Tranås and Gränna (road 133). Brahälla was built by Per Brahe (senior) around 1680. From the ruin you have a wonderful view over the lake Noen and the landscape. You can also enjoy an old fashioned sightseeing tour on lake Sommen with the steamship S/S Boxholm II, still operating on schedule from the last week in June until the second week in August every summer. Experience the wonderful nature and views of lake Sommen.
